Terms of service
The terms for using the Uhambo Atlas website, research platform and licensed desktop services, including subscriptions and authorised downloads.
Last updated 20 October 2026
1. Who provides Atlas
Uhambo Atlas Pty Ltd ("Atlas", "we", "us"), company registration number 2026/405857/07, provides the research platform. Contact research@uhambo.online for service questions, complaints and legal enquiries. Our contact page provides the published business contact details.
Business address and address for legal notices: 24 Charles Str, Bryanston, 2196, Johannesburg, South Africa. Public contact telephone: +27 83 700 7601.
These terms govern the Atlas service. An expressly agreed written enterprise contract may add to or replace them for that customer. Where a purchase is processed by Paddle, Paddle is the merchant of record for that transaction and its buyer terms also apply; Atlas remains responsible for supplying the Atlas service. Mandatory consumer rights take precedence over conflicting terms.
2. Agreement and the service
By creating or using an Atlas account, or placing an order for Atlas services, you agree to the terms presented to you. If acting for an organisation, you must have authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not place an order or use the restricted service.
Atlas supplies Africa-focused research, structured data, risk analysis and intelligence tools. Access, countries, datasets, downloads, AI functions and support depend on the plan, source licences and features actually made available to you. A roadmap, sample or development demonstration is not a promise that a feature or dataset is available. No claim is made that Atlas captures every event or provides complete, uninterrupted or real-time coverage.
3. Accounts, organisations and seats
- Use accurate account information and keep credentials secure. Each licensed seat is for one authorised individual; shared logins, resale and circumventing seat limits are prohibited.
- An organisation administrator may manage its members and access. Your employer or sponsoring organisation may control your access and information submitted within its workspace.
- Tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access. Do not attempt to bypass authentication, entitlements, data licences or other security controls.
4. Orders, prices and recurring billing
Before payment, the order or checkout identifies the plan, included seats, billing currency, price, billing interval and applicable taxes. An annual plan is charged for a year in advance, not in monthly instalments. Unless the order states otherwise, a recurring subscription renews and the payment provider charges the agreed payment method each billing period until cancelled.
Online checkout is available only when enabled. Payment confirmation and access activation are separate: access is activated after payment and eligibility are verified. If you have paid but cannot access the service, contact us with the receipt before paying again. Never send your full card number or card security code to Atlas.
Prices or material subscription terms will not be changed retrospectively for an already paid period. We will notify affected customers before a renewal change takes effect and provide an opportunity to cancel, subject to any greater notice required by law. Trial, discount, additional-seat and bespoke terms apply only where expressly included in the order.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel renewal at any time. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period, when subscription access ends; it does not by itself refund the current period. Our Refund and cancellation policy provides a full refund of the first subscription payment when requested within 14 calendar days, as well as the process for errors, defects and statutory remedies.
The professional Network membership fee is separate from a Terminal subscription and has its own refund terms, set out in the same policy. Cancelling or refunding one does not automatically cancel the other.
6. Permitted use and source licences
During your authorised access, you may use the licensed research and tools for your own or your subscribing organisation's internal analysis, within the plan and source-specific restrictions. You may make downloads and offline copies through features expressly enabled for you. That permission does not permit unauthorised scraping or bypassing download controls.
Third-party data, publications, marks and software remain subject to their owners' rights and any accompanying licence or attribution. Do not redistribute, resell, republish substantial extracts, provide a shared data feed, remove attribution or use restricted data to train models without the necessary permission. An Atlas subscription does not override a source licence.
When access ends, cease using restricted subscription content and remove licensed offline copies except where a written licence or applicable law permits retention. Retained audit or compliance records must remain access-controlled and must not be used to supply an ongoing research service. An offline copy is not a perpetual subscription.
7. Research, AI and professional judgment
Research and AI-generated outputs can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Check material facts, dates, citations and calculations against primary sources and use qualified professional judgment. Scores, scenarios and forecasts are analytical assessments, not guarantees. Inclusion in a political-exposure or influence record does not imply wrongdoing.
Atlas does not provide personalised investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, execute trades or hold client investment funds through this research service. Do not use an automated output as the sole basis for a decision about a person or a financial transaction. The research disclaimer explains further limitations.
8. Information you submit
Submit only information you are authorised to use and disclose. You retain your rights in your own material and permit us to process it to provide, secure and support the requested service. Do not upload unlawfully obtained material, another person's credentials, or confidential or sensitive information without authority and appropriate safeguards.
Our Privacy notice describes personal-information processing. Optional external AI and other integrations may transfer the information selected for that request to the chosen provider; consider its terms and your organisation's policies before enabling or using it.
9. Service changes, suspension and responsibility
We may maintain, correct or change the service and may restrict access where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, non-payment or a material breach. Where practicable, we will explain the reason and allow it to be resolved. Any applicable refund or statutory remedy remains available.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or any research outcome. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses from reliance on research or a service interruption. Nothing here excludes liability or a remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights relating to fraud, gross negligence or defective services.
10. Complaints, changes and governing law
Send a service complaint to research@uhambo.online, stating what happened, when it occurred and the remedy requested. For a Paddle payment, you may also contact Paddle using your receipt or paddle.net. You retain the right to approach a competent regulator, ombud, court or payment provider.
We will publish updated terms with a new date and notify affected subscribers of material changes before they apply where required. Changes do not remove rights already accrued or retrospectively change a completed purchase. South African law governs our service terms, subject to mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply where you live. These terms do not take away a consumer's right to bring a claim in a forum available under applicable law.
